Grand Canyon-Parashant

Location:
Situated on the Colorado Plateau in northwestern Arizona within the Colorado River drainage, the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument borders the Grand Canyon National Park to the south and the state of Nevada to the west, encompassing a portion of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Driving Directions from Arizona/Utah border:
From the Arizona/Utah border, south of St. George, Utah, take BLM gravel road 1069. Obtain a map at the Interagency Information Center, 345 E. Riverside Dr. in St. George, Utah before visiting the monument. Directions to the visitor center: From I-15 Northbound - Take Bluff Street Exit #6. Turn right and IC is approximately 1/3 mi. down the street to the left. From I-15 Southbound - Take Bluff Street Exit #6. Turn left and IC is approximately 1/3 mi. down the street to the left.

Grand Canyon-Parashant is a remote area with miles of rugged, unpaved roads. Visitors must drive on existing roads where they will be able to view desert flora ranging from Mohave Desert sagebrush to ponderosa pine and rock formations among the deep canyons.

No visitor services.

Facilities:
None

Required Permits:
No permits are required for public recreation use.

Safety:
Visits to the area require special planning and awareness of potential hazards including rough, unmarked roads, venomous reptiles and insects, extreme heat and flash floods. Visitors should bring ample water, food, gasoline and extra tires. High clearance vehicles are recommended.
