KAET/Phoenix partnered with KCTS-TV Seattle to produce OVER ARIZONA using High Definition Television technology. HDTV offers crisp, sharp images that are distinctly different from the current television standard called NTSC (National Television Systems Committee). NTSC contains 525 lines of video information and two stereo audio channels. Programs shot in HDTV provide better images even when they are "down-coverted" to NTSC.KCTS, Seattle Public Television, was the first television station in North America to purchase HDTV equipment. OVER ARIZONA was shot using a Sony HDC 500 Camera custom-mounted on the nose and side of a helicopter. Other programs in the "OVER" series include OVER WASHINGTON, OVER NEW ENGLAND, OVER FLORIDA, OVER CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON D.C.: OUR NATION'S CAPITOL and OVER AMERICA.
